However, Victoria is located on Vancouver Island and getting there requires crossing the Strait of Georgia by ferry. The Vancouver ferry terminal is an hour away from Vancouver and it takes another 30 minutes to drive from the Vancouver Island ferry terminal to downtown Victoria. ALthough this is a very scenic overland route, it is also very long; 4 hours for a one way trip and 8 hours if you plan to return on the same day. A schedule that leaves little time to explore Victoria.
